Heard of World Book Day? It’s a global annual event in April, organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization to promote reading, publishing, and copyright. We used this day as the perfect platform to talk to shoppers about the importance of reading and education.
We believe that every child and young person should have a book of their own. So, we started with storytelling sessions across 6 shopping centre locations – filled with costume characters and a specialist sign language interpreter. We gave every child a book and an experience to remember.
- 2,500 books were distributed to children from all backgrounds and ethnicities
- 90% of parents responded that the event was successful and had increased their awareness of the importance of reading books with their kids
